Origin Coffee

Posted by with No Comments

Based in the depths of Cornwall Origin are crazily enthusiastic about sourcing, importing, roasting and selling great coffee which they spend a long time finding. All Origin coffee is environmentally sourced and their strict social standards mean they work closely with farmers to guarantee they are getting a great price for their crop and that their workers and the environment are being looked after too.

Origin was established in 2004 when we outsourced our roasting to a larger company and distributed our coffee to restaurants, hotels, delis and cafes in Cornwall, slowly gaining more and more business out of the county.

After a successful entrance into the coffee trade Origin set about planning to achieve their main target – roasting their own coffee. In 2008 the company bought a little Diedrick roaster and began dabbling in the art of roasting. It started in a tiny unit with no heating in basic surroundings, roasting tiny amounts for a few customers and before long, demand for Origin’s own roasted coffee was growing. In 2010 Origin invested in the Loring SmartRoast, the world’s first environmentally friendly coffee roaster, using 80% less energy than any other on the market and producing next to no emissions.

Origin are passionate about fresh coffee and buy micro-lots from around the globe and roast it in Cornwall.  Buying in smaller batches makes sure that the coffee is always changing as the seasons progress and the coffee isn’t sitting around in hessian sacks for months on end picking up flavours it was never intended to have. Origin are proud to say they roast their beans to-order so what you get from them is nothing but the freshest beans.

As it is today Origin has become a well-known coffee roaster in the UK who supplies some of the finest restaurants and hotels in the UK including some belonging to celebrity chefs. Alongside this they also have a dedicated range of retail coffees that are sold to independent retailers, delis and, of course, online.
